Common Core Panel Ahead:
Teachers are cautious regarding Governor Cuomo’s newly appointed education
commission. They say a lot has to change, including the unpopular tests associated
with the standards. The governor has been feuding with teachers for months. He’s
called them part of a broken education bureaucracy, and in exchange teachers have
held large protests against Cuomo’s policies. The governor’s standing in the polls has
slipped as parents side with teachers. Click here for article.


And So Are Teachers:

 

The State Education Department has posted a form for eligible teachers to appeal their
growth score (PDF Ink). The Board of Regents approved the new appeal process as part of
emergency regulations earlier this month. The deadline to file paperwork is Oct. 19.
